OGGI is the Perfect Underrated Italian Spot
Every once in a while I stumble upon a restaurant that is so unexpectedly incredible, I can't help but be shocked. Finding a good Italian restaurant that serves gluten-free pasta can be difficult. I love Mama Ricotta's BUT wanted to find somewhere to take my parents that's closer to the south side of Charlotte. I found Oggi Ristorante Italiano through Instagram (which is honestly where I find a lot of restaurants in Charlotte) and was curious about it.
I'm so glad that we finally checked it out! The exterior is NOT telling of the cozy atmosphere inside. It's located in a strip mall, but when you step inside, there's a cozy patio.
The main event: the food.
Heirloom Caprese: your typical Italian appetizer but it was so good!
Housemade Polpetti=: not gluten free but pretty dang delicious. Three tiny meatballs, the perfect appetizer size!
Gluten Free Penne Vodka: Not gluten free penne noodles but we ALL agreed that this was the best meal at our table. So freaking amazing, I could drink the sauce all day long!!!!! I love vodka sauce and this was honestly the best I've had. I'm going back JUST to order it again!
Beautiful Agnolotti: Ravioli in a brown butter and sage sauce. Full of gluten, but I did taste the sauce and it was very interesting-a sweet and savory combo that I wish I could have tried with noodles!
Lasagna OGGI: My dad is obsessed with lasagna, and this looked incredible! But he did say he wished he had ordered the Penne Vodka-it was THAT good.
Next time I visit, I am definitely saving room for dessert! Have you been here? Let me know in the comments!
PS: Sometimes I forget to take pictures of the food. Shout out to my mom for being my back up food photographer! Thank you!
